The broken back is largely an Anglo-Saxon feature on larger war knives, but was common on utility knives across Northern Europe from the Migration era into the late Medieval period and beyond.

Blade: 5” single edged blade of 1095 high carbon tool steel, differentially hardened, hand polished and etched, and honed to a razor edge. The blade has twin, narrow, hand scraped fullers on either side. 

Handle: The handle is sycamore, with a bolster of sculpted horn, and a copper stud finial. The handle has been hand carved with a Norse knotwork motif in a plant theme.

Sheath: The blade is protected with a wet formed, welted, hand stitched and tooled sheath of lightweight leather, as was usual for this size of knife. The tooling repeats the theme of the handle, with an additional double spiral at the pouch. The sheath has a single leather suspension loop on a forged copper ring.
